Get The Look - Steph Edwards (Luminites)

Hi all! Hope you are all well! :D

Today, I am starting a new series (I know I have been doing a lot of "new series" lately but I just want to experiment and take this blog in the right direction, so stick with me!)

Anyway, the series will be called *drumroll* "Get The Look" *cymbals crash and fireworks* lol (I do try to be funny...)

In this little series I will be picking out various celebrities that I take fashion inspiration from and telling you where to buy the products that they wear (whether it be exact matches or a cheaper alternative!) and also giving you some of my tips on how to style the different pieces that they wear :)

To start of with I thought that I would do Steph from Luminites as I LOVE and adore her style! Everything she wears I'm always like "Where did she get that!!?" haha. Her style could be described as girly yet still very casual and on trend!

The first look I will show you how to get the look off is one that Steph wore on the Luminites performance on Daybreak a few weeks ago :) This is what she wore;

The tartan print is really on trend this season and I think that this dress is just perfect! :) I love how she has styled it with just converse and tights, it looks really quirky but yet edgy at the same time!
Here is where you can find this dress or a look a like:

Primark £15 (This is the exact match, only in a different colour just for more options)

I love the edge that this one brings from Daisy Street with the added leather to the cap of the sleeves. It gives it that little bit something more and would look perfect with chunky black boots and a beanie! It costs £15.99 and can be found at http://www.daisystreet.co.uk/jaron-pu-sleeve-tartan-baby-doll-dress-in-red

However if tartan dresses aren't your thing you could always go for something more simple such as a tartan top or even just a tartan scarf if you still wanted to incorporate the tartan trend into your look; here are some examples:

I think that this top is very understated as it is balanced out with the black skirt and hat. It is still very on trend and the red lipstick really compliments it. This top is from Miss Guided and is £14.99 http://www.missguided.co.uk/catalog/product/view/id/94016/s/keeva-tartan-crop-top/category/1083/

This scarf is from Zara and is £19.99 (bit pricey for a scarf) but the quality is amazing! You could easily style this with a jumper and jeans and jacket or even with a skater skirt and leather jacket for an edgy look. It won't be too dramatic like a tartan dress, you need to feel comfortable! http://www.zara.com/uk/en/new-collection/checked-soft-scarf-c323303p1330066.html

The next look from Steph is...well...this dress

She posted it on her instagram a couple of days ago and at first I was like "woah, bit too out there for me" but now I'm kinda really liking it! haha If I was to wear it around where I live people would look at me as if I had two heads but if you are brave enough to wear something like it then you can find it:

I couldn't find the exact match, but I heard that it was from Topshop. This one is from Boohoo and is £12.00. I like that you can't really tell that it is sweets until up close to it. It's quirky and I love it. http://www.boohoo.com/restofworld/day-dresses/jessica-sweet-print-bodycon-dress/invt/azz39654

I did manage to find the matching cami top from Topshop, so I assume that the dress is also from there. I think that this top would look good with black leggings or jeans, or even a midi body-con skirt. It is £26.00 http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?searchTerm=sweet&storeId=12556&productId=11500307&urlRequestType=Base&categoryId=&langId=-1&productIdentifier=product&catalogId=33057

If you feel like the sweet printed clothes is too out there for you (like myself) then you could always opt for sweet jewelry. I found this bracelet on Truffle Shuffle
It is £6.99 and I think that no one would really notice it if you were wearing it, and even if they did who cares! Its just a bracelet! They make quirky gifts for people as well! Go on to  http://www.truffleshuffle.co.uk/store/liquorice-allsorts-bracelet-p-13224.html to find more cute and quirky jewelry gift ideas!

The last look that I have chosen is Steph's casual everyday look. Here is an example;

I love the simplicity of her casual look, its basically me everyday! haha :) You can wear whatever jeans you love the most and your converse (or in my case, cheap plimsolls from Primark!) and match it up with a cute, printed jumper. Here are a few of my picks;

This one from Lipsy is really cute! I love the pink and the print on it! It is totally something that I would wear! This jumper is £35 so a bit pricey (ask Santa nicely!) I actually found this on the Next website, but I'm sure its in the Lipsy shop too. http://www.next.co.uk/gl0570s4#l23133gl0

If you don't want to go for a printed jumper, you could always find a lovely cosy warm plain knitted jumper such as this one;

How fricking cosy does that not look!!! :P This is from Miss Selfridge and is now only £19.50 so get it fast before it sells out!! You could wear this with leggings or disco pants as well as just jeans if you prefer :) http://www.missselfridge.com/en/msuk/product/clothing-299047/knitwear-299069/jumpers-299206/mohair-holey-square-jumper-2407056?refinements=category~%5b208087%7c208085%5d&bi=1&ps=200

And of course, considering it is Christmas, I couldn't leave out the tacky (yet very stylish) Christmas jumper! Here is a cute on that I found;

I love it so much!! Too much cuteness! :P Its from New Look and is £27.99 and if people call you tacky, don't listen to them! Wear your jumper with pride...maybe just inside. In my opinion New Look have the best variety for Christmas Jumpers and at affordable prices, check them out.. http://www.newlook.com/shop/womens/knitwear/christmas-jumpers/_/N-9vjZ1z1410m

So that is it for my very first "Get the Look" blog post. If you enjoyed it and want to see more then let me know :) and if you have suggestions as to what celebrities you want me to do then please comment! :D

Until next week, Lisa xo

(Also its a coincidence that I am seeing the Luminites on Monday at the Jingle Ball! So Steph if you read this, then HEY SEE YOU ON MONDAY!! :P )

How To - Natural Waves

Hello again!

So I have decided to start a little series on this blog called 'How To' (How to..create original series names YAY!) haha anyway it's the only name I could think of to call it, but basically I am going to be doing little tutorials on how to do stuff, simple! :D I will make the steps as basic and easy to follow as I can, so lets get started :D

This is how to get natural waves without using heat.. :D

Step 1; You need to wash your hair the night before that you want your waves for (if that makes sense) so say I wanted my hair wavy for Wednesday I would wash it on the Tuesday night.. I use 'Alberto balsam' shampoo and conditioner to wash my hair. These come in loads of different scents but my favourite is the mandarin and papaya shampoo (which is a citrus orange scent) and the coconut conditioner (which is the most heavenly coconut scent ever!)

Step 2; You need to only towel dry your hair, do not use a hairdryer as the waves will be less effective.

Step 3: You need to do 2 french plaits in your hair, if you can't do it, get someone else to do it for you. Sometimes people need more than 2 plaits (it's a trail and error type process) for me 2 works but my sister does 3 as she has thicker hair than I do. So you french plait your hair when it is wet/damp and sleep in it overnight. It seriously isn't that uncomfortable!

Step 4; In the morning, take out your plaits and taadaah! You have nice, natural looking waves! :D Use whatever you use to style it, mousse, salt spray or whatever you use and then add a touch of hairspray all over to keep the waves in place all day! :D

As you can see, I wear this look to school as it is easy to do and not much hassle in the morning! (I'm not a morning person! So it is easier for me to do my hair before bed!) You could also dress this look up and wear it on a night out by adding a plait in the side of your head.

I hope you enjoyed this easy tutorial to wavy hair, and if you would like more of these 'How To's ' then leave a comment telling me what you want to know how to do and I will try my best to do it. :D

Love, Lisa xo

Lawson Concert :D

Hello again! :)

So this post has been a long time coming, but I went to see Lawson 2 weeks ago (20/10/13) at the Ulster Hall in Belfast and honestly it was an AMAZING concert! They were just as I expected them to be..this was my 3rd time seeing them, but my 1st time seeing them at their own headline tour! :D I thought I would share the experience with you all, it is just too good to not! ;)
So first off, this is what I wore to the concert. I thought it wasn't too dressy and the plimsolls added a touch of casual to the overall finish of the outfit :)
Daisy print top; New Look, Pinafore dress; River Island, Red plimsolls; Primark
For my make up I went fairly simple, with a bold lip. I wanted to keep it relatively easy as I was going to be standing in a queue for a long time so I didn't want to be checking to fix my make up a lot.

Lipstick; Revlon Lip Butter -Candy Apple
 Me and my sister got to the venue at around half 6, and the doors opened at 7pm. The queue was HUGE since it was a standing concert, however we were seated so when we got to a corner the security man said that we could go straight to the front as we had seats (wasted time in the queue!) Anyway we skipped to the front and got in OK. We got to the merch stand and my sister bought a t-shirt. Then we made our way to our seats. As it was our first time in this venue we had a little bit of trouble finding our seats and it didn't help that the doors were unmarked so we didn't know if we were at the right place or not! After about 10 minutes wandering the halls we found our door and we were seated at around 7:40pm.

The first support act came on and it was Paighton (who, in all honesty, I had never heard of! :S ) however, their songs were still catchy and I liked them a lot.

This is Paighton, sorry I don't know their names! :/
 After Paighton performed there was about 10 minute break and then Room 94 came on as the next support act. I actually really love Room 94 (not because I fancy the drummer or anything.. ;) haha ) but I have loved them since before this, but now after seeing them live I realised that they are amazing!! They were so chilled and very funny! It was an amazing atmosphere and they really got the crowd going :)

Left to right - Sean, Dean, Kieran and Kit
Yeah..I do not fancy him... ;P

 They did their set (which included Kiss You by One Direction!) and then at around 9:20pm Lawson came on!! I think my heart jumped out of my body as soon as I saw them..they are seriously perfect!! :D

I was lucky enough to be able to see behind the curtain before it dropped and got a sneak peak at them before anyone else ;) oh yeah! :P
When they began to sing I was in awe. I couldn't believe how good they were. Although I had seen them before, I was more aware of their talent this time for some reason? The set list was as follows (and if I forget something I am sorry but this is from memory!) ;

  • Juliet
  • Make It Happen
  • Taking Over Me
  • Gone
  • Love Locked Out (new song)
  • Die For You
  • Learn To Love Again
  • Parachute (new song)
  • The Girl I Knew (sang by Andy, acoustically)
  • Stolen (and Waterfall, acoustically)
  • When She Was Mine
  • This Is What It Feels Like (Cover)
  • Brokenhearted
  • Everywhere You Go
  • Standing In The Dark
Now that I have said how flipping amazing the show was, here are some pictures;

Adam (who is my fave..)

Andy

Ryan
Joel

He is gorgeous!

Great face Joel..

Andy in the crowd!

I don't know why I love this picture..?

The end :(
 Now for the best part of the night..and probably the best part of MY EXISTENCE...I CAUGHT ANDY BROWN'S GUITAR PICK!!!!

Ok so here is how it happened..

The concert was over, Adam was throwing his drum sticks into the standing area, Joel and Ryan were also throwing their guitar picks to the standers. Me and my sister just said to each other 'aww we aren't gonna get anything' so we stand up and just as we do, Andy looks up to our balcony area and we all scream and wave. He looks up to me and my sister and throws something towards us. Everyone starts getting up and looking for whatever he threw, when I look to my sisters feet and there it was...HIS GUITAR PICK! It was like fate we were meant to get it! I picked up and started jumping up and down and waving it about! (I probably looked like a crazy person!) but in that moment I didn't care! I looked to the stage and Joel was looking up to me as I was screaming my head off and I waved the pick at him and he laughed and gave me a thumbs up!! :D I ran out to my car and cried (a little bit..) and that was the end of my night!

Here is the signed guitar pick in MY HAND!

How beautiful is that..I have Andy Browns DNA..I could clone him (if I knew how..)

The concert is right up there as one of the best I ever been to (and that has been a lot!) Here is a link to my Youtube where you can see the videos that I took of the concert ;

Thank you for reading and if you have any cool concert stories, leave a comment I would love to read them! :D
